Over the span of 20 years, Dallas-based photographer Sarah Carson has produced a large body of work in both black & white and color. Her images of Texas and the Southwest show present day rodeos, ranches, wildflowers, lakes and parks land, and buildings and life of the city of Dallas. Texas-past is richly documented by photographs of historically significant buildings.
Carson has also traveled and photographed extensively in Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. Her large collection of work includes images form Italy, Spain, Russia, Poland, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, and Jordan, to name a few.
The photographs of Carson have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums over the years; in both one-person shows and juried exhibitions, in Dallas and other Texas cities, New York, Boston, Miami, and New Orleans. In 2001, curator Beata Schezy mounted an exhibition of Carson's work, "Closed Encounters," in Budapest, Hungary.
During the last eight years, Carson has conducted travel photography workshops in Italy (Tuscany). Her love of Italy and the Italian people has produced an impressive and exciting collection of Italian images. Carson has also conducted travel photography seminars in several Texas museums and for private groups.
"I love to find art through my lens, perhaps see it in a unique way. For me, the excitement of photography comes from the hunting for and finding of the image. I believe my creative opportunities come through my composition, my work in the darkroom, and in toning and hand-coloring of my black and white images. My color photography gives much information, both about the subject and , hopefully, about the photographer's quality of seeing."
